Alternative Gifts Fair

What is an Alternative Gifts Fair?

The Social Concerns Committee invites the congregation to the Alternative Gifts Fair on the third weekend of November before and after the 10:45 a.m. Worship service and Congregational Meeting to elect officers.

You may wonder what an Alternative Gift Fair is:

It is one which can be truly life-saving or life changing for impoverished people around the world.

The gifts available include selections from “A Greater Gift” (formerly SERRV), a non-profit trade organization which provides markets for small farmers and crafts people in Asia, Africa, Latin America and the United States; Habitat for Humanity; Heifer Project, a non-profit organization working to end world hunger by assisting hungry rural families with farm animals and technical training for their care.  Other gifts are from our Presbyterian Coffee Project, including chocolate and tea; Holy Joe’s Cafe; H.E.L.P. Food Pantry; Church World Service and Baskets and Beads from Uganda.

Thank You for Supporting the 2011 Alternative Christmas Gift Fair
Once again the Alternative Christmas Gift Fair was faithfully and generously supported by our congregation. Whether you donated to H.E.L.P. Food Pantry, purchased items from Uganda, bought a “part of a cow” from Heifer or supported any of the other wonderful organizations, you have made a meaningful difference in the lives of others. The total purchases and contributions for 2011 totaled $7800. What a great way to celebrate the true meaning of Christmas. Thank you on behalf of the lives you touched.
Marcia Leach, Chair of Social Concerns Committee

We have some free handouts with instructions for Christmas gifts and decorations.  Come to the Fair on Sunday, November 18, 2012.
