What is the Midland County Emergency Food Pantry Network?

The Midland County Emergency Food Pantry Network is a non-profit, tax-exempt charitable organization established in 1983 as a cooperative effort among area churches and other organizations to provide a means of supplying food and supplies to people in Midland County who have emergency needs and are living near or below Federal poverty level income guidelines.

The Network provides coordination among the pantries, supporting churches, groups, and agencies in the distribution of food and supplies to low income people with emergency needs in Midland County by ---

  •  Maintaining the office of the Network Coordinator who interviews referred persons, contacts the pantries, keeps records, and maintains contact with churches and social agencies.   The Coordinator and substitute are the only paid employees of the Network.
  •  Providing information and policy guidelines to participating churches, community groups and donors.
  •  Acting as agents to receive and distribute among the member pantries various donations, gifts or grants from churches, groups, and individuals.
  •  Cooperating and coordinating with other agencies to improve the level of human service activity within the total Midland County community.

Where Are the Pantries?

There are currently 7 pantries in the Network 

  • Bullock Creek Outreach - Sponsored by Messiah Lutheran Church
  • Coleman - Sponsored by the Coleman Ministerial Association and community groups.
  • H.E.L.P. - Sponsored by Memorial Presbyterian Church and 8 other churches.
  • North Midland - Sponsored by North Midland Family Center and area churches.
  • SAMS - Sponsored by St. John's Episcopal Church and 7 other churches.
  • Sanford - Sponsored by Sanford United Methodist Church and 5 area churches.
  • West Midland - Sponsored by West Midland Family Center and 6 area churches.

How Can You Help? 

  • You can help the pantries with donations of food, canned or commercially packaged and basic household supplies.  Please include donor's name with the donation.
  • You can help the pantries with financial contributions for programs (estimated 2008 program costs ($202,215) and the administrative budget of $39,300 for the year 2008.

NOTE:   The pantries cannot accept most perishable items, home-canned or home-made foods, swollen or rusty cans, or open packages.

 The Network is a non-profit tax-deductible organization.

  • Donations are deductible on Federal Income Tax forms and eligible for the State Tax Credit for food banks on Michigan Income Tax forms.  Checks can be made payable to and sent to:
